The Outsiders Definition of a Family

Family does not have to blood related. Your family can be anybody that cares for you and watches over you. Also family can be someone that is always there for you when you need them the most. Family is the most important thing in “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton.

In “The Outsiders” family plays as big role in the book. For instance when Dally and Johnny are not related but Dally thinks of Johnny as his little brother. Pony boy says in the book “Dally cares about Johnny more than anything and anyone in the world.

Another example of family is when Pony boy’s parents die in a car accident, which made Darry the guardian of Pony boy and Soda. Darry had to give up his friends, his popularity, and the most important thing football. Only true family would be able to give up all of that stuff. Once I heard that Darry gave up all of that I knew he cared for Soda and Pony boy.
