Static vs. Dynamic Character

Author's Note: I'm writing this story to show you that Ponyboy is a dynamic character.

Is Ponyboy Curtis a static or a dynamic character? Ponyboy Curtis is one of the main characters in "The Outsiders". Even though he is the youngest Greaser, he matured faster than any of the other Greasers.  He is the person that is telling the story. Ponyboy is a dynamic character for many reasons.

Ponyboy is a dynamic character.  We first see him change in Chapter two when he meets Cherry Valance. He changes because Greasers are usually tough and mean, like when Dally is talking to Cherry and her friend he is mean and aggresive, but when Ponyboy talks to Cherry and her friend he's nice and sweet. For example on page 23 in chapter two when he is talking to Cherry he said “ We still hang around rodeos a lot. I’ve seen you two barrel race. You’re good.” That shows that he can be a nice guy.

Another example is when Ponyboy wants to be in the rumble, but he doesn’t really like to fight. Ponyboy doesn't like too fight because of what happend when Johnny got jumped by the Scos. That kind of surprised me because he doesn’t seem like the kid that would want to fight. He gets good grades in school and he is a nice person. When he is arguing with Darry he’s trying to get Darry to let him be in the rumble.

The connection I made to the book Holes because the Greasers and the boys at Camp Green Lake are both trying to solve their own problem. In "The Outsiders" the Greasers are trying to solve the war between them and the Socs. While in "Hole"s the boys are trying to solve their problems because Camp Green Lake is a place where Juvenile teens go to stay if they did something bad. Ponyboy and Stanly are both kids that don't really like to fight, but thet will if they have to.

In conclution  Ponyboy Curtis from "The Outsiders" is a dynamic character throughout the book because he changes throughout the book.

  2. You did a good job on writing the piece over all but you didn't add the page numbers of the quotes but you have a lot of voice and good organization a lot of detail.
